USPTA Elite Professional Rick Calton, the 2009-2010 USPTA Florida Division District 15 Professional of the Year.
Rick is a graduate of the Professional Tennis Management Program at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., where he competed on the nationally ranked team from 1992 to 1993. He is also an USRSA Master Racquet Technician, PTR-Professional certified, USTA Sports Science Level I-and II-certified and a past NTRP verifier.
Rick Calton is a lifelong learner and has regularly been in the top 10% of the USPTA's yearly educational points. He currently has over 300 continuing education points in his career.
Rick Calton has 20 years of experience in all aspects of Country Club Tennis Management including pro shop operations, facility & equipment management, activity programming, 10 & under instruction, league coordination, strategic planning, membership growth & retention, and budget administration.
He is currently the Director of Tennis Operations at the Island Country Club on Marco Island.
Rick Calton was part of teaching staff at Bonita Bay Club in Bonita Springs, Florida prior to taking over operations at Island Country Club.
He was the Director of Tennis for 15 years at Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida.
Prior to Suntree, Rick was the Head Tennis Professional at Riomar Bay Yacht Club. Riomar Bay Yacht Club was located in Vero Beach, Florida.
Rick's tennis career after Ferris State University began at the Glen View Club located on the North Shore of Chicago.
Rick has been active in fundraising & outreach. He has organized free events with area elementary schools to increase tennis awareness. Rick helped lead a fundraiser to raise $15k for an instructor with kidney disease. Rick has directed a tennis tournament as part of the committee for Brian Hill Invitational for several years. The event raised over $100,000 each year for Cystic Fibrosis. He started a scholarship at Ferris State University titled "Professionalism in Business". The award was given each year to a Professional Management (PTM) Student.
Rick has been happily married for 9 years to Laura Calton. They have no children and reside in Estero, Florida.
